Our Team
The Still Here Youths (SHY) team is a growing collective of youth workers, mentors and volunteers helping young Australians navigate the next chapter of their lives.
Trained Youth Worker. Current Criminology & Law student. Speaker, mentor, and the heart of SHY. Sahr has worked with young Australians across schools, churches, sporting clubs, PCYC and community groups.
Our growing team of youth workers and volunteers walks alongside young people — helping them understand government letters, plan careers, prepare for study or work, and connect with the right support services.
A wider board of advisors is being formed with backgrounds in youth work, education, child safety, law and mental health. Members will be published on this page once appointed. See our transparency page for more.

Amber is our always-available AI assistant for young people. She helps with goal setting, weekly planning, career exploration, study support and wellbeing check-ins — then hands over to real humans and free Australian services whenever something needs a person. She never diagnoses, prescribes or gives legal advice, and she escalates straight to emergency and helpline pathways if a young person may be at risk.
Meet Amber →How we work with young people
We empower young people to make informed decisions. We do not make decisions on behalf of young people.
Our safeguarding standards
Anyone engaging directly with young people on behalf of SHY is expected to hold a current WWCC / Blue Card for their state or territory.
Team members receive induction on child safety, mandatory reporting, safe messaging, and referral pathways.
We connect young people with qualified professionals — we don't replace psychologists, doctors, lawyers or Centrelink.
We respect every culture, faith, gender and background. We centre Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQIA+ and CALD young people.
