My Story

Hi, I'm Sahr Ellie, founder of Still Here Youths, a not-for-profit created to empower young people from every background, culture and walk of life.

As an experienced Youth Worker and a current Bachelor of Criminology and Law student, I've seen firsthand the challenges young people face every day — mental health struggles, family breakdowns, crime, identity, loneliness, lack of direction and the pressure to fit in.

Still Here Youths was created because I believe every young person deserves someone who believes in them before they believe in themselves.

Our mission isn't simply to inspire young people for one day — it's to equip them with practical tools that help them grow for life. Whether we're speaking in schools, churches, sporting clubs, youth camps, detention centres or community events, the goal stays the same: help young people become mentally stronger, physically healthier, spiritually grounded, emotionally resilient and purpose-driven.

ABC News invited me out to launch Still Here Youths 🎙️

I'll never forget the day ABC News invited me out to lunch to hear my story and help launch Still Here Youths to the country. Sitting down with their team, sharing where I've come from and where this movement is going, was one of the proudest moments of my life. That feature opened doors we're still walking through today — schools, families and young people right across Australia finding SHY because of the exposure ABC gave us.

A massive thank you to ABC News for believing in this vision early, for platforming young Australians who are usually left out of the conversation, and for making room at the table for our community. 🙏
