Child safety statement
Still Here Youths (SHY) has a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. Every young person who uses this app deserves to feel safe, heard, and respected.

Our commitments
We align with the Australian National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. This means:
- Child safety is embedded in leadership. Sahr Ellie and the SHY board hold responsibility for safeguarding.
- Young people are listened to. Feedback and reports are read by a human within 48 hours.
- Families and communities are informed. Parents can see how the platform works via our parents page.
- Equity and diverse needs are respected. Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people, LGBTQIA+ young people, young people with disability, and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are all welcome and safe here.
- Staff and volunteers are suitable. Anyone speaking to young people in person on behalf of SHY holds a current Working With Children Check for their state.
- Complaints are taken seriously. See below.
- Staff are equipped. Sahr is a trained Youth Worker and current Criminology & Law student.
- Online safety is prioritised. Ember AI is trained to detect distress and surface hotlines instantly. Community posts are moderated. DMs can be reported.
- Physical & online environments minimise harm. No public profiles for minors. No adults DMing minors outside of moderated staff support.
- Policies are reviewed regularly. This statement is reviewed at least annually.
