Still Here Youths (SHY) is an Australian not-for-profit committed to empowering young people through free education, mentoring, wellbeing resources, community programs and positive opportunities. Our volunteers and ambassadors are at the heart of everything we do.

Our recruitment process
- 1📝 Submit your online application
Tell us about yourself, your interests, availability and why you'd like to join SHY. Estimated time: 5 minutes.
- 2🔍 Application review
Our volunteer team reviews every application carefully. You'll usually receive an update within 5–10 business days.
- 3☕ Meet the team
If shortlisted, we'll invite you to a short online or face-to-face conversation — a chance to get to know each other and answer your questions.
- 4🛡️ Safety & screening
Depending on your role you may be asked for a Working With Children Check / Blue Card, Police Check, identification and references. Roles involving direct work with young people require appropriate screening.
- 5🎉 Welcome to SHY
Successful applicants receive a Volunteer Welcome Pack, SHY orientation, role guide, team introduction and access to volunteer resources.
- 6🚀 Start making an impact
Begin volunteering, attend events, support projects and help create positive change for young people across Australia.
