Child Safe Commitment
Every young person on Still Here has the right to feel safe, respected and heard.
Still Here Youths (SHY) is committed to providing a safe, respectful online environment for young Australians. We have processes for reporting harmful behaviour, protecting young people, and responding appropriately to safety concerns — including escalating to Australian authorities where required by law.
Our approach is guided by Australia's National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, issued by the Australian Human Rights Commission.
The 10 National Principles
Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in leadership, governance and culture
Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions and are taken seriously
Families and communities are informed and involved
Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice
People working with children and young people are suitable and supported
Processes to respond to complaints and concerns are child-focused
Staff and volunteers are equipped with knowledge, skills and awareness through ongoing education and training
Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising harm
Implementation of these principles is regularly reviewed and improved
Policies and procedures document how Still Here is safe for children and young people
